Role Overview
The FPGA Business Unit in Dublin is looking for a seasoned Principal Verification Engineer to contribute to verifying next-generation, secure, low-power FPGA device products. This role demands expertise in cutting-edge verification methodologies and collaboration with multiple teams to ensure first-silicon success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rigorous verification of complex subsystems and SoCs using a blend of constrained random testing, formal techniques, and C-based verification methods.
- Develop and sustain modular, reusable UVM test environments and verification frameworks.
- Execute RTL-level, power-aware, and gate-level verification activities.
- Drive quality and efficiency improvements by integrating AI/ML-assisted verification approaches.
- Coordinate with emulation and hardware prototyping teams to establish a comprehensive verification strategy.
- Work closely with architecture and design groups for seamless project delivery and silicon success.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster their professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum eight years of experience in functional verification of complex System on Chip (SoC) designs.
- Proven proficiency in SystemVerilog, UVM, and formal verification methodologies.
- Strong background in verification methodology development and automation tool creation.
- Knowledge of AI/ML-powered EDA tools and scripting capabilities for verification flow integration.
- Understanding of SoC architectures including ARM and RISC-V.
- Expertise in at least two of these domains: CPU subsystems, PCIe Gen3/4/5, DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR4X memory interfaces, MIPI DSI/CSI, Ethernet MAC, USB, or security and cryptography IPs.
- Experience with emulation, hardware prototyping, and debugging after silicon tape-out.
- Familiarity with FPGA-based acceleration platforms and simulation/emulation flows.
- Programming and scripting skills in Python, TCL/TK, and C/C++ for automation and validation.
- Experience with industry verification tools from Siemens, Cadence, and Synopsys.
- Usage of revision control systems such as Git, Perforce, or SVN.
- Outstanding debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
- Collaborative experience working across global, multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
- In-depth knowledge of FPGA architecture is highly advantageous.
- Experience with coverage-driven verification optimized by machine learning techniques.
- Familiarity with complete SoC RTL to silicon delivery flow, including GDSII processes.
- Additional experience in emulation, hardware prototyping, and post-silicon debug techniques is highly desirable.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with more than eight years of relevant experience is expected.
