Composite Technician

Role Overview

This full-time, onsite position based in Dubai, UAE involves preparation, fabrication, and upkeep of composite molds used primarily in aerospace and advanced component production. The technician's daily duties include interpreting technical drawings, preparing plug surfaces, applying release agents, performing material lay-up, and constructing molds via diverse composite methods. Tasks also encompass trimming, finishing, mold repairs, and ensuring strict dimensional and surface finish compliance. Collaboration with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams is essential to resolve challenges, enhance mold functionality, and support ongoing manufacturing improvements. Maintenance of safety protocols and a tidy workspace to ensure efficient, quality outcomes is expected.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Expertise in composite mold making practices, including plug surface preparation, lay-up, vacuum bagging, and curing with materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy or polyester resin systems.
• Competence in reading and applying technical documentation including CAD models, templates, and instructions to achieve precise mold construction.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools for mold trimming, sanding, drilling, and finishing, emphasizing dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
• Experience with mold maintenance and restoration methods like patching, surface refinishing, and applying release agents to prolong mold lifespan.
• Familiarity with manufacturing health and safety standards, safe chemical handling, and workplace safety compliance in a composite manufacturing setting.
• Preferred background includes experience in marine, aerospace, automotive, or related composite manufacturing sectors.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, dependability, and teamwork skills, with an ability to perform independently when required.
• Possession of a technical diploma, vocational certification, or equivalent hands-on experience related to composites, mold making, or manufacturing trades.
