Job description

Position Overview

The Architectural Estimation Engineer will be tasked with developing precise and competitive cost estimates for architectural and finishing components in major infrastructure projects during pre-construction and tender phases.

Key Duties

  • Analyze tender documentation, architectural plans, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and project criteria.
  • Execute detailed quantity take-offs and develop comprehensive cost estimations for architectural and finishing works.
  • Create detailed unit-rate analyses encompassing raw materials, workforce, machinery, subcontracted services, and overhead costs.
  • Source and assess bids from suppliers and subcontractors, keeping market price data current.
  • Spot discrepancies in tender documents, identify missing data, and flag commercial or technical risks.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical, procurement, planning, and commercial departments to ensure the accuracy of pricing.
  • Propose value-engineered solutions and alternative cost-saving measures.
  • Compile detailed tender cost breakdowns, pricing formats, clarification documents, and all necessary supporting paperwork.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • At least 10 years’ hands-on experience in estimation, tendering, or cost control, explicitly including architectural and finishing works within major infrastructure projects.
  • Prior professional involvement within a contractor’s estimation or tendering team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Saudi construction industry, including supplier and subcontractor networks, labor costs, and material pricing.
  • Expertise in quantity measurement, cost estimation techniques, rate analysis, tendering processes, and value engineering strategies.
  • Skill in interpreting architectural drawings, project specifications, BOQs, and tender documents accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized estimation tools; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, CostX, or PlanSwift is advantageous.
  • Essential to have direct estimation experience during the tender phase; experience limited to post-contract commercial roles is insufficient.
