Role Summary

The Visual Merchandiser plays a key role in elevating the in-store guest experience by expertly crafting visually appealing presentations aligned with company standards. Through advanced merchandising techniques, mannequin styling, fixture blocking, and In-Store Marketing (ISM), this position drives sales and inspires shoppers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate daily and weekly visual merchandising plans in collaboration with leadership, prioritizing sales goals, promotional events, and marketing campaigns.
• Conduct weekly assessments of visual displays and collaborate with store leaders to enhance the execution and guest experience.
• Ensure consistent application of visual standards throughout the store, elevating merchandise presentation.
• Support the implementation of the company’s Visual Merchandising strategy, including ISM elements across relevant store sections.
• Set overhead spotlights to emphasize prominent merchandising displays.
• Collaborate with leadership to solve merchandising challenges and adjust setups for optimal visual impact.
• Lead daily team interactions and trainings to instill visual standards, signage policies, and affordability messaging to boost sales.
• Maintain organized backroom spaces and stay current with signage tools and fixtures, setting non-planogram ISM elements storewide.
• Participate in onboarding, continuous learning, and skill development of team members through training and hands-on support.
• Demonstrate inclusivity by respecting diverse perspectives, fostering authenticity, and promoting equitable experiences.
• Adhere to ethical conduct, safety regulations, and compliance standards at all times, reporting and correcting hazards when possible.
• Engage warmly with guests during daily tasks, responding to their needs and expressing appreciation for their choice to shop at Target.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Between 1 to 2 years of experience in visual merchandising.
• Authorized to work and at least 18 years old.
• Business knowledge including profit margin concepts combined with creativity to inspire and influence shoppers.
• Strong grasp of current trends and styles consistent with Target’s brand.
• Leadership skills to motivate teams in following merchandising processes.
• Proficiency with communication devices and ability to operate handheld scanners and related technology.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Strong organizational skills to manage priorities and workload efficiently.
• Friendly and helpful demeanor towards guests and colleagues.
• Effective communication skills and ability to maintain composure under a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks.

Additional Requirements

• Access all store areas to resolve issues.
• Operate Work Assist Vehicles (WAV) and pallet jacks safely.
• Interpret written instructions, reports, and information accurately.
• Handle cash register duties when necessary.
• Ability to climb ladders and lift or move merchandise weighing up to 15 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance.
• Flexibility regarding work schedule; reliability and punctual attendance are essential.
• Position is full-time but hours may vary weekly based on business needs; no guarantee of 40-hour work weeks.
• Physical stamina to remain mobile throughout scheduled shifts.

Compensation and Benefits

This role's starting wage ranges from $21.25 to $23.25 per hour, with a full range extending up to $36.15 per hour. Pay is influenced by factors such as labor markets, education, experience, and certifications.
