Role Overview: Visual Merchandiser

This position is pivotal in ensuring exceptional guest experiences by implementing and maintaining visual displays and merchandising standards that inspire and drive sales. Visual Merchandisers are specialists in styling mannequins, managing in-store marketing elements, and setting up store layouts that reflect brand aesthetics and trends.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan daily and weekly visual merchandising tasks aligned with sales objectives, promotional events, and store priorities.
• Conduct regular visual assessments, collaborating with leadership to enhance overall store presentation and guest engagement.
• Evaluate and guide the deployment of visual standards throughout the entire store environment.
• Implement company-wide visual merchandising strategies and maintain In-Store Marketing elements across relevant sections.
• Support leadership in verifying proper execution of visual presentations and displays.
• Adjust spotlights to emphasize key merchandise presentations effectively.
• Collaborate with leaders to resolve visual merchandising challenges and refresh displays to sustain creative and compelling presentations.
• Leverage daily meetings to coach team members on visual merchandising standards, signage, and affordability strategies to boost sales.
• Maintain orderly backroom spaces and ensure signage tools and fixtures are updated and correctly positioned according to planograms.
• Assist with onboarding and ongoing education for team members to enhance visual merchandising skills and knowledge.
• Promote inclusivity by appreciating diverse perspectives and fostering respectful, authentic interactions and equitable experiences.
• Always adhere to ethical standards, promote safety and compliance within the store environment.
• Work safely, follow all safety procedures, report hazards, and correct unsafe conditions where possible.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting guests during daily tasks, offering assistance when needed, and expressing appreciation for their choice to shop with Target.
• Perform other duties as business needs dictate.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in visual merchandising is necessary.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong understanding of business fundamentals such as margins, profitability, and sales dynamics combined with creativity.
• Good knowledge of current trends and styles that align with brand image.
• Leadership skills to influence store teams towards adopting visual merchandising processes.
• Proficient in using communication devices, handheld scanners, and other relevant technology.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Capacity to manage workload efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Welcoming attitude with strong communication skills to maintain composure and focus in busy environments.

Additional Expectations

• Access and move freely throughout the store to address guest and team member needs.
• Operate Work Assist Vehicles (WAV) and pallet jacks safely.
• Interpret instructions, reports, and other business information accurately.
• Handle cash register tasks when required.
• Use ladders as needed for merchandising activities.
• Frequently lift or move merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, accommodating a flexible schedule including peak periods.
• Remain physically mobile throughout shifts of varying lengths.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting hourly wage for this role ranges from $21.00 to $23.00, with the full pay scale spanning from $21.00 to $35.70 per hour. Pay varies based on factors such as location, education, experience, and certifications.
