Job description
Position Overview
The Utility Worker is responsible for operating and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. This role involves thorough cleaning and disinfecting of kitchen and storage areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment to maintain hygiene standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle washing and sanitizing tasks using detergents and chemicals in a three-compartment sink to clean dishes.
- Inspect, sort, and stack cleaned items, returning any soiled items for re-cleaning.
- Spray racked items with hot water to remove food residues effectively.
- Sort, soak, wash, and rewash silverware as needed.
- Break down and clean dirty bus tubs and empty trashcans and dumpsters.
- Clean and mop all specified areas within assigned departments regularly.
- Properly dispose of glass and manage recyclable materials like cardboard boxes accordingly.
- Receive deliveries, store perishables under proper conditions, and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
- Follow all company safety and security policies; report any maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to the manager promptly.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues; support teamwork and positive working relationships to achieve common goals.
- Comply with quality standards and expectations at all times.
- Perform physical tasks including moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, as well as standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, and adopting various postures like bending and stooping.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by supervisors.

- No high school diploma or GED required.
- No prior related work or supervisory experience necessary.
- No specific licenses or certifications needed.
