Technician

Position Overview

As a Technician, you are responsible for promptly addressing and resolving guest maintenance requests. This role involves effective communication with guests to resolve equipment and facility issues, as well as performing regular preventive upkeep on tools and machines, including kitchen and mechanical room devices. You will visually examine equipment condition and handle operational tasks such as carrying tools and managing utility shut-off valves.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance including cleaning and lubricating tools and equipment.
• Operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities safely.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and order parts when necessary.
• Communicate daily activities and issues clearly between shifts using the prescribed communication system.
• Demonstrate foundational knowledge or willingness to learn in areas such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and energy conservation.
• Perform minor repairs including surface preparation, painting, drywall and wood trim fixes, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacements, and ensure proper cleanup after repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair various equipment including plumbing (e.g., unclog drains, toilet maintenance), electrical fixtures (lamps, switches, outlets), vacuum cleaners, and internet devices.
• Program televisions and manage housekeeping and engineering inventories.
• Adhere to the Lockout/Tagout safety procedure before maintenance work.
• Carry out maintenance of indoor and outdoor landscaping and irrigation systems.
• Exhibit basic computer skills, such as entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures as needed.
• Follow all company safety and security policies rigorously, report hazards or incidents, and participate in safety training.
• Present a neat and professional appearance aligned with company standards and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Provide excellent guest service by acknowledging guests following company protocols, addressing their needs graciously, and assisting individuals with disabilities.
• Foster teamwork and positive relationships, responding thoughtfully to coworkers' concerns.
• Handle physical tasks including lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds unassisted, using stairs, ramps, and ladders, and performing bending, twisting, and stooping movements.
• Use computers to retrieve work-related data and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Preferences

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and some prior experience in general maintenance with a focus on interior and exterior surface work and painting. Experience specifically in hotel engineering or maintenance roles is advantageous. This position does not require supervisory experience but does require a valid driver's license.
