About the Role

USIC, a leading name in underground utility damage prevention and infrastructure services, is seeking dedicated and safety-conscious individuals for the position of Utility Locator in Denton, TX. This role involves performing fieldwork independently, focusing on accurately uncovering and marking underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. The mission is to provide efficient, safe, innovative, and quality service to protect critical infrastructure nationwide.

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately locate underground utilities across designated areas.
  • Mark utility locations clearly, document findings thoroughly, and photograph each locate for record-keeping.
  • Utilize best-in-class systems to manage tickets and claims ensuring comprehensive marking services for excavators or property owners.
  • Work independently in the field using company-provided vehicles and equipment.
  • Meet turnaround deadlines typically within 48 hours, including working the day after holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to work in outdoor conditions regardless of the weather, with previous outdoor work experience favorable.
  • Technological proficiency to operate company devices and systems efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekend shifts, on-call duties including nights as needed.
  • Ability to pass mandatory drug screening due to safety-sensitive nature of the job.
  • Valid driver's license coupled with a clean, safe driving record.
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces, perform activities including walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Color vision sufficient to distinguish utility marking colors and wiring.
  • Capability to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and blueprints accurately.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, contractors, and homeowners.
