About Queensland Rail and the Role

For over 150 years, Queensland Rail has been pivotal in connecting communities across the state. We are now offering a full-time permanent opportunity for a Trackworker (Labourer) to join our team based in Dalby, managing track maintenance between Jondaryan, Chinchilla, and Meandarra.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in repairing and maintaining railway tracks, including replacing sleepers and other track-related tasks.
  • Carry out outdoor manual labor duties within the region, including emergency responses such as flood repairs.
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently in diverse weather conditions, including high temperatures.

Candidate Profile

  • Recent hands-on experience in manual handling or physical labor roles.
  • Strong team collaboration skills with effective communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated dedication to workplace safety standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work throughout Regional Queensland.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as necessary.

Training and Development

Employees will have the opportunity to earn Certificates II and III in Rail Infrastructure – Track, and may also obtain First Aid Certification, High Risk Work Licenses (DG and LF), and a Working Safely at Heights ticket.

Work Conditions and Benefits

  • Annual base salary starting at $69,000 plus 12.75% superannuation, with total potential earnings up to $85,000 including penalties.
  • Standard work schedule of a 9-day fortnight, typically from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Paid travel during work hours, with expenses and accommodation provided.
  • All required PPE and tools are supplied.
