About the Role

Join Queensland Rail as a Payroll Officer on a fixed-term contract until April 30, 2027, with a potential extension. In this full-time position, you will play a key role within a knowledgeable team responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services. You will handle the full payroll cycle including new hires, salary adjustments, transfers, and terminations, while ensuring compliance with relevant enterprise agreements and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll processes including payment of wages, salaries, travel reimbursements, and processing of new starts, transfers, salary reviews, progressions, and cessations.
  • Provide knowledgeable advice to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding entitlements based on finance policies and enterprise agreements.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure adherence to quality control procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing payroll processes and work practices under the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Support and train Time Administrators to guarantee accuracy of the payroll input data.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconcile payroll anomalies, and check timesheet entries as directed by the Payroll Team Leader.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience in payroll, preferably managing high-volume or complex payroll environments.
  • Familiarity with SAP or SAP SuccessFactors is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to compliance and accuracy.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills for timely resolution of payroll discrepancies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team while taking ownership of independent tasks.
  • Willingness to undertake higher-level payroll responsibilities as needed, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.
