Engineering Manager

Overview

As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee all engineering and maintenance functions related to the building, grounds, and physical plant with a focus on safety, security, and protecting assets. You will manage budgets, capital projects, preventive maintenance, and energy-saving initiatives while ensuring full compliance with regulations. Additionally, you will assist in leading the emergency response team addressing facility-related incidents.

Core Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
• Ensure adherence to facility regulations and safety standards.
• Manage energy consumption including heat, lighting, and power; advise on best practices for energy conservation and cost-effective operations.
• Develop specifications and manage service contracts supporting building needs; administer these contracts effectively.
• Issue and monitor preventive maintenance and repair work orders to ensure timely and quality completion.
• Oversee maintenance for grounds, guestrooms, public areas, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational amenities.
• Plan and supervise long-term preventive maintenance and asset protection strategies.
• Prepare project plans related to renovations or new construction; solicit bids from contractors and supervise construction to ensure completion within budget and schedule.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external stakeholders including city building and zoning departments, fire prevention bureaus, and vendors.
• Ensure the fire response team is fully trained on procedures, equipment, and alarms.
• Conduct monthly inspections of the property to maintain high standards for buildings and grounds.
• Inspect guest rooms and common areas to ensure guest satisfaction and uphold quality standards.
• Evaluate facility conditions to determine maintenance needs; recommend and arrange for additional services such as painting, repairs, renovations, or replacement of furnishings and equipment.
• Select and purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings as needed.
• Manage inventory of parts and equipment.

Maintaining Property Standards

• Ensure all building and equipment licenses and certifications remain valid and up to date.
• Maintain life safety systems including fire fighting equipment, sprinkler, and alarm systems.

Delivering Exceptional Customer Service

• Lead by example to promote a culture of excellent guest hospitality and positive guest relations.
• Review guest feedback including comment cards and satisfaction survey data to identify and address improvement areas.
• Communicate plans and corrective actions with property leadership to continually elevate guest experience.
• Continuously strive to enhance service quality and performance.
