Job description
Overview
The Senior Therapy Assistant role at Alexandra Hospital, Singapore focuses on supporting therapists with diverse clinical, administrative, and technical tasks. This position also involves overseeing other therapy assistants and coordinating healthcare attendants to facilitate seamless operations within the therapy department.
Primary Duties
- Assist therapists in preparing and supervising patients during therapeutic activities and exercises.
- Set up treatment areas, gyms, and clinics ready for patient use.
- Prepare and supervise therapeutic equipment and modalities while patients use them.
- Lead group therapy exercises and provide basic caregiver training under therapist supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in therapy areas.
- Coordinate and occasionally perform patient portering within the therapy department as needed.
- Supervise healthcare attendants and manage portering assignments within the rehabilitation area.
Secondary Duties
- Manage inventory checks of therapy equipment, supplies, and forms; maintain updated inventory lists.
- Handle document-related tasks including photocopying, binding, filing, and distribution.
- Perform basic data entry and retrieve information using computer programs.
- Respond to enquiries, manage phone calls, and convey messages efficiently.
- Oversee maintenance and upkeep of therapeutic devices and equipment.
- Coordinate therapy assistant duties and staff rostering.
- Assist with training and supervision of junior therapy assistants and help identify their training needs.
- Participate actively in departmental improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum qualification of GCE ‘N’ level.
- Preferably 3 years of experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
- Strong service orientation and focus on patient care.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic supervisory and coaching capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally on the job.
