Senior Radiographer

Overview

The Senior Radiographer (AH14) plays a crucial role in delivering timely and safe imaging services while actively managing and administrating a specific department section. This role involves supervising and mentoring radiographers and other personnel to ensure high standards in imaging procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct general radiography duties along with at least one advanced imaging modality such as CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, or Interventional Radiology.
• Administer contrast media during radiological examinations when necessary.
• Uphold strict safety protocols, particularly regarding radiation safety following the ALARA principle, and enforce infection control measures.
• Ensure smooth and efficient operations within the specialized section, maintaining careful usage and upkeep of equipment.
• Implement quality assurance programs and propose quality improvements for the section.
• Organize and prioritize assigned work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Manage challenging or escalated issues including patient complaints within the department promptly and professionally.
• Respond swiftly to internal stakeholders' needs.
• Serve as the main trainer for radiographers by providing coaching and training.
• Contribute to updating and reviewing departmental imaging protocols.
• Maintain high work performance standards consistent with corporate policies in the specialized section.
• Provide counseling support to team members regarding work-related concerns.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Engage in two or more departmental programs or portfolios.
• Support data collection, preparation, and analysis as needed.
• Help evaluate and recommend equipment and accessories for purchase.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the reporting officer.

Requirements

• Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
• Possession of a recognized Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography.
• Preferably five years of specialized experience in advanced imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, or Interventional Radiology.
• Strong leadership capabilities and self-management skills.
• Excellent analytical and organizational abilities.
• Proficient interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Competency in computer applications including word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
• Customer-focused approach with empathy and quality patient care.
• Capability to work effectively within strict timelines.
