Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Director specializing in Electrical Engineering for Data Centres and Mission Critical facilities to join our Building Services team in the Middle East, focusing on the UAE and KSA regions. This role offers a leadership platform to expand and enhance our Data Centres services through technical direction, client engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design efforts for hyperscale, colocation, and mission critical infrastructure projects.
- Provide expert technical guidance to multidisciplinary Building Services design teams ensuring high standards.
- Champion innovation, design quality, and technical excellence across all project phases.
- Serve as a trusted consultant to clients regarding mission critical infrastructure planning and strategies.
- Support business development activities, including client relationship management and major project acquisition.
- Coach and nurture engineers within the Building Services department to cultivate talent and expertise.
- Influence the strategic growth and direction of the Data Centres & Mission Critical practice at WSP.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Possess a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary design teams in consultancy settings.
- Extensive experience working in the Middle East with thorough knowledge of regional client needs, regulatory approvals, and project management frameworks.
- At least 18 years of professional experience in Building Services Engineering, including substantial involvement in the design and delivery of Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.
- In-depth knowledge of mission critical electrical systems such as HV/LV electrical distribution, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, emergency generation, resilience planning, and critical power infrastructures.
- Experience with projects across hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission critical client segments.
- Proven success in building client relationships, securing work, and contributing to business development.
- Professional accreditation such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or an equivalent certification is mandatory.
