Associate / Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres & Mission Critical

Job Overview

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Associate or Principal Electrical Design Engineer focused on mission-critical data centre projects. This leadership position is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary design, advisory services, and project delivery that comply with rigorous global standards for resilience, sustainability, and scalability in data centre infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and execution of electrical and MEP systems specific to mission-critical data centres.
• Provide technical oversight by reviewing and approving engineering outputs to ensure compliance with international and client-specific standards.
• Drive innovation in modular, cloud-based, colocation, and hyperscale data centre solutions.
• Manage primary client relationships, establishing trusted advisory partnerships across major regional accounts.
• Conduct technical workshops, design review sessions, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
• Define and implement project strategies, overseeing all phases from concept through execution for outstanding delivery outcomes.
• Lead business development efforts, including tender management, proposal strategy formulation, and commercial negotiations.
• Spot and leverage new opportunities within digital infrastructure and cloud/hyperscale ecosystems.
• Collaborate with senior regional leadership to broaden the mission-critical and data centre service portfolio.
• Mentor and lead cross-functional engineering teams comprising electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural disciplines.
• Manage resource allocation, team utilization, and professional development within the data centre practice.
• Ensure all engineered solutions meet or exceed benchmarks for operational resilience, sustainability, and scalability.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; preference for Master’s degree holders.
• Minimum of 12 years’ experience in the design, delivery, or advisory of mission-critical data centre projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Tier standards, NFPA codes, ASHRAE guidelines, and Uptime Institute requirements.
• Proven track record working in GCC markets, particularly UAE and/or Saudi Arabia.
• Experience within large engineering consultancies or international firms.
• Strong leadership skills coupled with excellent communication and client engagement capabilities.
