About the Role
Join WSP in the Middle East as a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the construction supervision of large-scale building projects, particularly mixed-use developments in Jeddah. This role offers the opportunity to work on landmark developments, access global expertise, and collaborate with a diverse community of engineering professionals to deliver world-class results.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead the supervision activities related to structural works on major building developments.
- Review and authorize structural shop drawings, engineering calculations, method statements, material submissions, and proposals for temporary works.
- Ensure all structural works comply strictly with approved designs, technical specifications, international standards, and local authority mandates.
- Conduct frequent site inspections and audits to assess quality control and project progress.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and client representatives to maintain coordination.
- Evaluate contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), inspection reports, and technical submissions for accuracy and compliance.
- Detect any non-conformance issues and verify the prompt implementation of corrective measures.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in monitoring progress, preparing reports, and resolving technical challenges on site.
- Attend and witness testing and commissioning of structural systems to ensure standards are met.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and site inspectors to support their professional growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- A strong track record of 12 to 15 years post-graduate experience in the field.
- At least 8 years of direct involvement in building construction supervision within the GCC region.
- Demonstrated expertise in reinforced concrete and structural steel construction techniques.
- Proven experience in scrutinizing structural calculations and temporary works proposals.
- Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks including Dubai Municipality, DDA, Trakhees, and other local authorities.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Membership in a recognized professional engineering organization is considered advantageous.
