Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer II to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves providing expert structural engineering support on construction sites, ensuring compliance of structural works with design specifications, and resolving site-related technical issues in collaboration with senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver daily structural support on site by responding to construction queries, technical clarifications, and RFIs.
- Inspect structural works on site to confirm alignment with approved drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and sample references.
- Detect and address structural discrepancies or site deviations in partnership with Senior Structural Engineer.
- Coordinate structural operations with architectural, MEPF, façade, and fit-out activities to prevent clashes and execution conflicts.
- Assist in snagging, inspections, and quality evaluations of structural components and finishes.
- Review shop drawings, material submissions, samples, and method statements ensuring they meet design intent and specifications.
- Provide concise technical commentary to expedite approval processes and maintain construction progress.
- Ensure approved shop drawings and materials are accurately implemented on site.
- Support the creation, evaluation, and validation of structural as-built documentation and records.
- Help Technical Coordinators monitor structural submittals and resolve outstanding review comments.
- Develop and assist in response preparation to RFIs, Technical Queries, and site clarifications related to structural works.
- Aid in investigating, reporting, and closing out non-conformance reports (NCRs), observations, and quality issues.
- Keep precise records of all technical decisions and responses per project protocols.
- Liaise with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding structural concerns.
- Participate in site coordination and progress meetings as required.
- Ensure effective communication of structural technical information through official project workflows.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned about structural detailing, constructability, and site execution.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and site personnel to uphold technical standards.
- Promote adherence to best practices in structural construction quality and execution.
Industry Background
This position operates within design and build engineering projects in the construction sector, requiring coordination among multiple engineering disciplines during design and execution stages.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least eight years of relevant experience in engineering roles within design, construction, or design and build project settings.
- Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering deliverables, including design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building systems and interfaces across architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Fluent professionalism in managing technical documentation, review processes, and engineering coordination.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Professional engineering certification or licensing is beneficial but not required.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination tools.
- Thorough understanding of design coordination, constructability assessments, and design-to-construction workflows.
- Capable of managing technical logs, trackers, and documentation control within Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to technical accuracy.
- Effective interpersonal and coordination skills to facilitate collaboration across various engineering teams and stakeholders.
