Senior Road Engineer

Overview

The Senior Technical Road Engineer is entrusted with leading and assessing roadway engineering designs and technical documentation for infrastructure and transportation projects. This role requires managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring all designs adhere to project specifications and standards, and providing expert technical assistance throughout design and construction phases.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead highway and road engineering operations spanning various projects.
• Evaluate and sanction roadway geometric designs including alignments, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and pavement schemes.
• Guarantee adherence to project specifications, standards, and regulatory authority requisites.
• Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Offer technical guidance and resolve engineering challenges during design and construction.
• Review engineering calculations, reports, drawings, and submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in value engineering and design refinement efforts.
• Coordinate submission of technical documents and secure necessary approvals from authorities.
• Track design progression to support timely delivery of projects.
• Examine highway geometric designs, pavement design and rehabilitation approaches.
• Oversee design aspects of intersections and interchanges.
• Inspect road drainage systems and grading plans integrations.
• Evaluate coordination of traffic management, road markings, and signage.
• Address utility corridor coordination and mitigate conflicts.
• Assess shop drawings and method statements related to construction phases.
• Perform site inspections and provide technical support during construction to ensure quality and compliance.
• Advocate adherence to QA/QC standards and project-specific criteria.
• Support project handover and closure processes.
• Coordinate efforts across drainage, utilities, traffic, structural, and geotechnical teams.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical personnel to foster professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Have between 10 to 15 years of specialized experience in road and highway engineering projects.
• Experience working with contractor organizations and large-scale infrastructure undertakings is highly advantageous.

Software and Technical Proficiency

• Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Infraworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Bentley Open Roads Designer is preferred.
• Technical expertise in reviewing road geometric design, pavement design, grading and earthworks coordination.
• Capability in quantity take-offs and verification.
• Experienced in BIM coordination and conducting clash detections.
• Competent in preparing technical reports and documenting engineering deliverables.
• Comprehensive knowledge of AASHTO, MOT, Saudi Codes, and international road design standards.
