Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this role involves delivering exceptional technical support for power systems that underpin essential infrastructure. You'll balance technical expertise with a strong customer focus to resolve complex issues, foster continuous improvement, and help customers meet their operational objectives.
Work Environment
This is primarily an on-site role based in Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, with regular travel to customer locations as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer expert technical assistance and resolve intricate issues in power systems spanning commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and retrofits, both remotely and on client premises.
- Independently lead specialized service projects, managing schedules, budgets, technical execution, documentation, and health & safety compliance while coordinating among internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a technical advisor for management and clients, proposing cost-efficient service options and collaborating with ABB sales teams to identify new service opportunities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practices, developing detailed technical documentation, and recommending enhancements to products and quality.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional electrical certification.
- At least three years of practical experience in technical support, field service, or related roles within the power sector.
- Strong knowledge of power systems, power electronics, power quality, energy management, and grid stability principles.
- Effective communication skills to clearly convey technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving aptitude, critical thinking under pressure, and the capability to manage complex projects autonomously.
- Willingness to undertake national and international travel for commissioning, support, and training purposes.
- Demonstrated dedication to health, safety, and environmental standards; operational integrity; and ongoing professional development.
