Job Overview

The Storekeeper role involves overseeing warehouse and inventory operations to guarantee that all materials, spare parts, equipment, and various items are accurately received, stored, managed, issued, and documented per company standards and policies.

Main Duties

  • Receive deliveries including materials, spare parts, and equipment; verify their quantities, specifications, and condition against relevant documentation such as purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Report any shortages, damages, or inconsistencies to the appropriate department immediately.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all received goods prior to inventory entry.
  • Ensure all inventory records in the ERP or inventory system are current and precise; properly label, code, and organize items in assigned locations.
  • Monitor stock levels regularly to identify excess, obsolete, damaged, or slow-moving inventory, and perform periodic physical stock verifications to reconcile with system data.
  • Issue materials strictly against authorized requests or approvals, accurately documenting all stock transactions including transfers, returns, and adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized warehouse environment that facilitates easy access and efficient space utilization.
  • Uphold proper storage protocols tailored to different item types and safeguard company assets appropriately.
  • Prepare detailed documentation and reports covering receipts, stock movements, and adjustments; support management and related departments with accurate inventory information.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures for inventories and support external audits as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Procurement, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on deliveries, purchase orders, and stock records; escalate any unauthorized inventory activities to management.
  • Adhere strictly to corporate policies governing warehouse functions and maintain appropriate segregation of duties within inventory processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related disciplines preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience managing warehouse or storekeeping tasks, ideally within a similar industry.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software.
  • Good understanding of inventory control practices and warehouse operations.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication, organizational capability, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple departments.

Performance Metrics

  • Accuracy rate of inventory records and effective reconciliation.
  • Timely processing and accuracy of receiving and issuing procedures.
  • Incidence and value of stock discrepancies.
  • Reduction of obsolete and slow-moving goods.
  • Compliance with warehouse standards including documentation and procedural adherence.
  • Timeliness and completeness of monthly stock counts and related reports.

Authority & Accountability

The Storekeeper holds responsibility for the custody, control, and accurate documentation of all assigned inventory, with prompt reporting required for any loss, damage, discrepancies, or unauthorized transactions.
