Job description

Role Overview

Join our team at One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary, as a Store Manager overseeing the day-to-day operations of a busy retail outlet. This role demands leadership in a fast-moving environment, focusing on operational efficiency and profitability while maintaining exceptional customer service and a safe workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Shift Leaders and store associates with regular direct engagement during shifts.
  • Develop deep personal connections with each team member, fostering a positive workplace culture centered on colleague experience.
  • Promote a culture of self-service resolution, confidently handling queries and empowering the team to do the same.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, colleague training, and workplace health and safety, supporting well-being and attendance.
  • Evaluate and adapt team structure and skills to create a high-performing, future-ready workforce.
  • Handle all leadership tasks, including managing absences and resolving workplace issues.
  • Acknowledge and celebrate team contributions and accomplishments regularly.
  • Identify resource needs, sourcing internal talent and recruiting externally to build a diverse and inclusive team reflecting the community.
  • Manage key performance indicators (KPIs), collaborate with other store managers to enhance growth and profitability.
  • Oversee in-store services, such as Post Office Local, EvRi, and vending operations.
  • Implement business changes and new processes to improve store performance.
  • Organize staffing within budget to keep the store operational and compliant while prioritizing candidate care and recruitment ethics.
  • Deliver an excellent customer shopping experience and contribute positively to the local community.
  • Provide daily coaching to the team to uphold superior retail standards.
  • Monitor competitors locally, turning insights into actionable measures.
  • Lead a robust health and safety culture to ensure that everyone goes home safely, mitigating preventable incidents.
  • Support the team with direct tasks like customer service, stock replenishment, legal routines, and management duties.
  • Hold responsibility as DPS/Premises holder for alcohol sales compliance.
  • Manage Post Office Local operations if applicable, requiring successful financial and background checks.
