Job Summary

Advance Auto Parts is hiring a Store Driver to manage the timely and safe delivery of automotive parts to professional customers and maintain store operations at our Port Colborne, Ontario location. This role involves interacting with customers, handling deliveries, promoting sales, and supporting general store upkeep.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Pick and stage automotive parts and deliver them safely to professional customers.
  • Collect returns and core parts from customers as required.
  • Distribute weekly or monthly sales flyers while advocating current promotions and loyalty programs.
  • Perform daily collections on credit accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with both MainStreet and National professional customers, sharing delivery insights with Customer Parts Professionals.
  • Assist in driving sales by upselling and cross-selling products to increase transaction values.
  • Keep the store premises clean and orderly, including floors, bathrooms, shelf facing, dusting, and parking lot.
  • Manage general stocking duties such as replenishing truck stock, back stock, and conducting cycle counts.
  • Stay updated on product inventory and new releases to support sales activities.
  • Engage with walk-in customers to assess needs and recommend parts or services accordingly.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Competencies for the Role

  • Ability to comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and procedural documents.
  • Competency in basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with various units and decimals.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including days, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Confidence in engaging customers and promoting products effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for learning about new products and sales strategies.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Experience in automotive parts is desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The position involves frequent standing or walking and requires physical abilities such as talking, hearing, hand dexterity, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The candidate must be capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

The work environment is mainly indoors but includes occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Employees may face moving machine parts, elevated work areas, hazardous chemicals, electrical risks, explosives, and vibration exposure. Noise levels are generally moderate.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role starts from 17.60 CAD to 18.85 CAD per hour, depending on factors such as location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership experience, and shift differentials.
