Stocker - Aisle

Position Overview

The Stocker is responsible for delivering excellent, prompt, and courteous service to customers while ensuring shelves are well-stocked and aisles are kept clean. This role operates under the supervision of the Floor Supervisor, Assistant Floor Manager, or Floor Manager and is classified as a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and timely customer service at all times.
• Unload merchandise from pallets, place items on shelves, and unpack boxes to stock individual products.
• Rotate products on shelves regularly to prevent expiration and maintain freshness.
• Organize items by front-facing them on shelves to maintain an attractive presentation.
• Conduct inspections following HACCP standards to ensure product safety and compliance.
• Assist in daily inventory checks focusing on product rotation to minimize shrinkage and damage.
• Verify that shelf pricing is accurate and updated to reflect current market rates.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area through scheduled cleaning, including scrubbing and cleaning under pallets.
• Monitor the floor continuously for any safety hazards; quickly and safely manage spills and remove debris such as plastic wraps, ties, or wood pieces.
• Report to supervisors promptly regarding any stock shortages or out-of-stock products.
• Take on additional duties as assigned, including potential work in other departments as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Effective communication skills to interact with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills sufficient for reading and performing simple calculations.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Steel toe boots are mandatory personal protective equipment for this role.
• Must be capable of lifting and carrying weights up to 50 lbs frequently and for moderate distances.
• Ability to perform overhead lifts up to 50 lbs and horizontal push/pull forces up to 500 lbs.
• High agility, finger, and manual dexterity required to effectively handle daily tasks.
• Physical activity includes constant standing and walking, with occasional climbing, kneeling, bending, and head turning.
• Working conditions include exposure to moderate indoor temperatures as well as refrigerated and freezer areas, with occasional temperature variations near entry points.
• Work environment involves proximity to moving equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and motorized carts.
