Porter

Overview

The porter role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety in key warehouse areas to protect employees and customers from hazards, including liquid spills or other unsafe substances. This position requires consistent upkeep of Sanitation and Cleaning Logs on a daily basis and ensuring cleaning equipment meets the company's HACCP program standards. Additional duties may be assigned by the branch manager, such as minor touch-up painting, cleaning wet pallets, and maintaining lighting fixtures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Sweep interior and exterior premises regularly.
• Clean and maintain restrooms throughout the facility.
• Keep windows, doors, and coffee areas clean as required.
• Manage all trash containers on site.
• Operate equipment including trash compactor, cardboard baler, and floor scrubbing machine when necessary.
• Respond promptly to warehouse spills by cleaning them up.
• Maintain cleanliness of employee break rooms according to schedule.
• Support department managers with aisle cleaning tasks.
• Confirm compliance with HACCP guidelines and complete sanitation logs as specified.
• Perform additional tasks as designated by management.

Requirements

• Possess effective communication skills.
• Have a foundational knowledge of sanitation procedures.
• Basic familiarity with operating floor equipment such as balers, compactors, and scrubbing machines is advantageous.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds safely.
