Stamping Toolmaker

Job Overview

Molex is looking for an experienced Stamping Toolmaker to ensure the upkeep, troubleshooting, and enhancement of high-speed stamping dies critical to our manufacturing processes. This role is vital in maintaining tool reliability, top-quality output, and efficient production while engaging collaboratively with teams across production, engineering, quality, and tooling.

Team Environment

You will be part of our manufacturing team supporting stamping operations, working closely with toolmakers, production staff, die designers, and quality assurance personnel to guarantee dependable tooling performance and ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on high-speed stamping dies to maximize tool performance, dependability, and availability.
• Identify and diagnose issues with tooling and dies, analyze root causes, and implement corrective measures to reduce production interruptions.
• Assist in die setup, qualification, handover, and validation to facilitate smooth introduction of new or modified tools into operations.
• Work jointly with production, engineering, quality, and die design teams to tackle technical challenges and meet manufacturing objectives.
• Engage in investigations of production events and initiatives to enhance quality by pinpointing tooling-related root causes and proposing enduring solutions.
• Monitor tooling and manufacturing processes aiming to uncover opportunities for better quality, productivity, tool life, and cost reductions.
• Contribute expertise in die design assessments and tooling modifications based on hands-on production and maintenance experience.
• Execute precise machining tasks such as grinding, drilling, fitting, and adjusting essential for die maintenance and repair.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior toolmakers, sharing troubleshooting techniques and best practices to build team capabilities.
• Adhere strictly to safety standards, craftsmanship quality, documentation protocols, and maintain excellent workplace organization, all supporting continuous process improvement across stamping operations.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• NTC 3 certification in Metal Machining or an equivalent recognized trade qualification.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in tooling, die maintenance, stamping operations, or a related manufacturing field.
• Proficient with high-speed stamping die maintenance, repair, and setup requirements.
• Hands-on capability with machining processes including grinding, drilling, fitting, and tooling adjustments.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 10 years of extensive experience in stamping tool and die maintenance.
• Background supporting high-volume precision stamping production environments.
• Experience participating in die design reviews, tooling revisions, and continuous improvement projects.
• Proven expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to train and develop junior toolmakers.
