Die Design Engineer

Position Overview

As a Die Design Engineer at Molex in Singapore, you will spearhead the design and development stages from initial concepts through to final delivery, providing innovative and value-driven solutions for technical challenges. Your role demands close collaboration with Product Designers, Procurement teams, Buyers, Stamping specialists, and external vendors to ensure timely achievement of project launch goals.

Team Structure

This position reports directly to the Principal Engineer of Die Design. You will engage regularly with external suppliers and vendors to promote seamless project execution and meet performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and development processes by creating effective solutions for technical issues.
• Collaborate intensively with stakeholders such as Product Designers and Procurement to fulfill project milestones.
• Develop and define scope of work and design principles aligned with product requirements.
• Provide preliminary cost estimates and scheduling data to Manufacturing Industrial Engineering (MIE) during launch phases.
• Identify and communicate product design concerns during design reviews and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs).
• Review tooling designs against guidelines and FMEA findings to guarantee robust solutions.
• Design and prototype tooling to support new launches, production ramp-ups, and problem resolution until mass production.
• Work closely with toolmakers during First Off Tool (FOT) runs and die qualification processes.
• Coordinate with procurement teams to obtain quotations and assist vendor selection activities.
• Act as the key liaison with vendors during design reviews, meetings, and project updates.
• Maintain active communication with external partners regarding designs, timelines, specifications, failure analysis, and technical issues.
• Champion the adoption of emerging technologies and improved methodologies to decrease lead times, cut costs, and elevate quality.
• Initiate tooling improvements targeting Quality Notification (QN), Quality Assurance Programs (QAP), and yield loss mitigation.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent qualification in engineering.
• A minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in die debugging, fabrication, and progressive die building.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Siemens NX CAD software.
• Between three to five years’ background in the tool and die manufacturing industry.
