The Role

As a Staff Software Engineer at KIRA, you will guide the technical direction and delivery of significant products and systems. You will actively design and build software, leading key engineering efforts from conception through to deployment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and execution for major products, systems, and engineering projects.
• Architect scalable and robust solutions across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Contribute hands-on coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and resolving production issues.
• Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and maintainability.
• Translate ambiguous product challenges into clear technical plans and solutions.
• Enhance quality through improved system design, comprehensive testing, security protocols, and observability.
• Lead critical engineering initiatives and mentor engineers across multiple teams.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of 7 years engineering experience building and delivering production software.
• In-depth knowledge in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent system architecture capabilities for designing complex, high-scale platforms.
• Strong programming proficiency and desire to stay hands-on with code.
• Proven leadership in managing significant engineering projects from planning through deployment.
• Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, influence team members, and solve complex production challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience growing engineering teams and evolving systems and practices through rapid expansion.
• Background working across multiple products, diverse markets, or international regions.

Work Environment & Process

This position is fully remote and supports a globally distributed workforce collaborating across time zones. Candidates must be effective in a fast-paced, global team setting with strong English communication skills.
