Job description
Position Overview
Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a newly established software engineering team that focuses on Cloud and Third-Party Security within its Singapore office. This role demands a blend of technical leadership and people management to develop scalable security products targeting risk reduction in the usage of public cloud infrastructure, third-party vendors, and SaaS services.
Key Responsibilities
- Form and manage a high-performing engineering team by providing both technical guidance and effective people management.
- Develop and execute the technical roadmap aligned with organizational risk reduction objectives, tackling ambiguous challenges while maintaining technical quality and manageable system complexity.
- Supervise engineering projects, make critical architectural decisions, and collaborate strategically with partner security and software engineering teams.
- Work closely with cross-functional groups such as Security Engineers and TPMs to define system requirements and enable deployment of risk-mitigating controls for cloud and vendor usage.
- Foster an excellent engineering culture through recruitment, mentorship, career development, and performance oversight.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or comparable practical experience.
- Eight or more years of experience programming in languages such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++.
- At least three years of experience developing software related to data privacy or security domains like identity or access management.
- Three years in a technical leadership capacity.
- Two years in people or team management roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Five or more years of people management or team leadership experience.
- Skill in presenting complex technical subjects to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to align team objectives with broader organizational goals through active collaboration with global stakeholders.
- Experience delivering product outcomes within ambiguous or evolving environments.
- A proven record managing engineering teams focused on security, particularly cloud infrastructure and third-party security controls.
