Role Overview
As KIRA’s Engineering Lead, you will spearhead the technical direction and execution of our core products and systems used by millions across Southeast Asia. This hands-on role involves system design, coding, and leading engineering projects from conception to deployment while elevating engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking full responsibility for the technical design and delivery of major products and engineering initiatives.
- Developing scalable and reliable systems including backend services, frontend interfaces, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
- Collaborating closely with the engineering team by coding, prototyping, conducting code reviews, debugging, and resolving production issues.
- Making architectural decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and maintainability.
- Translating unclear product challenges into clear, actionable technical solutions and plans.
- Improving engineering quality through robust system design, testing, security, monitoring, and best development practices.
- Leading key technical projects and mentoring engineers across multiple teams.
Candidate Profile
- At least seven years of experience delivering production-level software systems.
- Advanced knowledge in backend and frontend development, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
- Exceptional system design and architecture skills for managing complex or large-scale systems.
- Proven coding expertise and eagerness to remain hands-on with technology.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in guiding major engineering projects from design through to deployment.
- Strong decision-making skills for technical trade-offs and adept problem-solving of complex production challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience growing engineering teams, scaling systems, or improving development workflows during phases of rapid expansion.
- Working knowledge of operating across multiple products, markets, or countries.
Location and Language
This is a fully remote position open to candidates globally. The role requires comfort in working within a fast-paced, international team distributed across various time zones. Proficient English communication skills are essential as it is the primary language among teams.
