Team and Role Overview

The Grafana Frontend group owns the complete user interface experience for Grafana’s observability product and platform utilized for plugin development. Their areas of focus include dashboards, visualizations, navigation, content discovery, and more. The Data Visualization (DataViz) squad specifically drives enhancements and innovations in Grafana's visualization capabilities, aiming to make data presentation intuitive and insightful.

Key Projects Recently Delivered

• Decoupling core visualizations for independent releases to eliminate dependencies
• Developing GraphViz integration for rendering relationships and architectures with live metrics from various data sources
• Enhancing quality and reliability through advanced testing strategies including visual regression testing
• Refreshing existing visual components like Table and Gauge to improve aesthetics and usability

Responsibilities

• Lead critical, multi-quarter technical projects, managing everything from defining the problem to deployment, along with gathering user feedback and evaluating success
• Mentor peers and elevate engineering standards via thorough code review, design critiques, problem-solving collaboration, and writing improvements
• Take part in on-call rotations to support software reliability and help manage incidents and subsequent learnings
• Assist with technical support during customer escalations and identify friction points for improvement
• Represent the team’s contributions across wider organizational forums, author design proposals, conduct demos, and advocate for the DataViz roadmap

Tools and Technologies

The team primarily uses Typescript, React, together with visualization libraries such as uPlot and eCharts. The entire codebase is open source and available on GitHub.

Compensation and Benefits

In Canada, the salary range for this role is CAD 186,368 to 223,642, with specifics depending on level, experience, and skills as assessed during the hiring process. This role includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) to promote shared ownership and alignment with company growth.
