About The Team

The Direct Surfaces Team is dedicated to enhancing how users manage their finances. We are rebuilding the core of Stripe through Stripe Treasury, a pioneering project designed to meet diverse financial needs regardless of business or location. This initiative is in its infancy stage which offers a chance to contribute to a new Stripe business.

Role Overview

As a Full Stack Engineer at Stripe, you will work on new product development amidst evolving conditions, balancing immediate tasks with long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and define technical project scopes to support product evolution and scalability.
• Design, develop, expand, and maintain user interfaces, along with their APIs and underlying services.
• Collaborate with partners to create and deploy new features and capabilities.
• Ensure technical decisions align with Stripe’s overall strategy while advocating for needs unique to emerging business lines.
• Partner with engineers across departments to determine when to leverage existing infrastructure versus building custom solutions.
• Create and follow both short-term and long-term development roadmaps, making pragmatic tradeoffs considering business goals, user experience, and maintainability.

Candidate Profile

We seek candidates with proven full stack expertise who produce scalable, user-centric products with a strong technical foundation.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least three years of professional experience crafting quality code and building infrastructure.
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering smooth user experiences and accessible product features.
• Strong understanding of design and development best practices for UIs and APIs.
• Focus on business impact as a measure of success rather than code volume.
• Ability to assimilate and champion effective ideas across teams and set an inspiring technical vision.
• Outstanding cross-functional collaboration skills and trusted mentorship of other engineers.
• A preference for elegant, sustainable, and scalable solutions over complexity.
• Thrives in a diverse, cooperative work environment interfacing with Sales, Support, Legal, and Accounting to align product development and customer needs.

Preferred Skills

• Expertise in React development.
• Experience developing with React Native.
• Familiarity or interest in financial products and markets, ideally with prior experience in financial technology companies.

Work Environment Expectations

Employees are expected to spend at least half of their working time in the local office, which varies by location and role. Some teams require close in-office presence to facilitate collaboration and support.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role in London is £104,800 to £157,200 annually, subject to adjustments by location and career level. Benefits may include equity, performance bonuses, retirement plans, healthcare, and wellness stipends. Specific salary details and benefits will be discussed during the recruitment process.
