Role Overview
The Staff Product Applications Engineer, specializing in µWave/mmWave, will deliver both product and system-level technical support to customers spanning aerospace, defense, communications, instrumentation, and additional market segments. This position demands expertise ranging from baseband circuits up to D-Band frequencies (170 GHz), including development of software drivers and application tools to facilitate customer design integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer deep system-level expertise to resolve integration challenges and enhance customer system performance.
- Lead development of advanced application tools, reference hardware, and software to showcase product functionality.
- Collaborate strategically with engineering, marketing, and sales teams to drive product development and commercialization.
- Troubleshoot and devise innovative solutions for complex technical problems impacting strategic clients.
- Plan and implement comprehensive product validation testing to confirm operational boundaries and robust performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, establishing yourself as a subject matter authority.
- Analyze competitor products thoroughly, prepare detailed comparisons, and deliver insights to sustain market leadership.
- Ensure qualification testing meets specialized market standards through rigorous validation processes.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Proficient in system architecture design, optimizing solutions across multiple integrated components for superior performance.
- Experienced in independently creating sophisticated application tools, development boards, and software utilities supporting customer integration.
- Skilled at fostering cooperation across disciplines, aligning engineering, marketing, and sales priorities.
- Strong analytical capabilities for resolving technically challenging issues with creative and knowledge-based approaches.
- Expert in product validation techniques to rigorously test and ensure reliability under varied application conditions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of semiconductor products and applications, focusing on select product lines or tech domains.
- Capability to evaluate and interpret competitive technologies to inform strategic decision making.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with qualification testing requirements tailored for specialized industry markets.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- Over eight years' experience in product applications engineering, customer support, or similar positions.
- Proven expertise in analog and mixed-signal semiconductor technologies.
- Experience mentoring junior personnel and leading technical initiatives.
Additional Information
This role requires approximately 10% travel and is set within the first shift working hours. Some positions may require export licensing review depending on citizenship status due to regulatory compliance.
