Role Overview
The RF Design Evaluation team in Limerick, Ireland, is part of the RF Semiconductors division under the Aerospace & Defence & Communications Business Unit. This team collaborates closely with design, applications, and test development departments to create high-performance RF and microwave components such as PLL synthesizers, VCOs, LNAs, mixers, modulators, filters, and converters.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop evaluation board hardware that interfaces with test instruments and devices under test.
- Create bench evaluation software automating measurement sweeps during device characterization.
- Select appropriate test equipment and innovate measurement methods to optimize evaluation processes.
- Independently assess, characterize, and resolve issues in mixed-signal bench setups and test solutions.
- Prepare detailed measurement reports and summaries for internal teams and clients.
- Analyze measurement data, draw conclusions, and recommend product enhancements to the development team.
- Collaborate with Design, Applications, and Test Development groups to ensure product alignment with customer requirements and schedule adherence.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master's or equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with RF test instruments like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters; training is provided.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for automating bench measurements interfacing with test instruments.
- Understanding of RF measurement concepts such as compression, phase noise, gain, spurious emissions, S-parameter, and noise figure measurements.
- Excellent troubleshooting and rework capabilities paired with sound decision-making.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Well-developed organizational abilities.
