Software Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Software Architect to take ownership of the technical framework and guide the strategic evolution of the Imploy platform. This position requires overseeing critical architectural and design decisions that span data frameworks, application development, cloud infrastructure, and AI service integrations. You will ensure that the platform remains scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable. This hands-on role focuses on improving and expanding an established production platform rather than creating a new system from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and govern the target architecture for the Imploy platform, including creating a phased transition roadmap from the current system to the future state.
• Design and oversee the deployment of a Canonical Data Model within a live production environment, ensuring uninterrupted service and data integrity throughout.
• Implement standardized occupational and job-title taxonomies such as ESCO, ISCO, O*NET, or SOC, while mapping legacy free-text data to these classifications.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and technology selections focusing on .NET, Azure cloud infrastructure, and both web and mobile applications.
• Establish robust software engineering methodologies including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), environment segregation, version control, and deployment pipelines.
• Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, such as Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), design artifacts, and technical specifications.
• Optimize data structures to support machine learning and AI, focusing on data model readiness, improving search relevance, and measuring AI output quality.
• Apply Security by Design principles, ensuring compliance with data localization, the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), data retention policies, and governance for third-party data.
• Evaluate the scope, implications, and costs of architectural modifications before defining delivery timelines.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Cybersecurity teams located in Riyadh and Cairo, acting as the technical authority on architecture governance and security audits.

Candidate Requirements

• 10 to 15 years of experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 4 years dedicated to software architecture with direct responsibility for architectural and design decisions.
• Demonstrated expertise scaling multi-sided marketplaces or high-traffic consumer platforms managing millions of records.
• Significant hands-on experience maintaining and evolving production systems beyond greenfield projects.
• Strong proficiency in data modeling, specifically canonical data models and handling production data migrations.
• Familiarity with occupational and job classification standards and the ability to translate legacy free-text data into these structured classifications.
• Advanced architectural knowledge of .NET framework and cloud computing, with a preference for Microsoft Azure.
• Proven track record deploying CI/CD pipelines, environment separation strategies, and release management protocols within engineering teams.
• Practical experience implementing Security by Design, ensuring data localization compliance, adhering to privacy laws, managing data retention, and governing third-party data usage.
• Capability to lead and influence engineering teams effectively without direct managerial control, while operating across distributed teams.
• Fluency in English communication is essential; Arabic language skills are advantageous due to bilingual data handling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience in Recruitment, Human Resources technology, or marketplace platform domains.
• Experience deploying AI or machine learning services in live environments, including assessing model output quality.
• Knowledge of PDPL or comparable regional data protection legislation.

Additional Information

Applicants should currently reside in Riyadh or Cairo, as the position requires onsite presence in these locations without the possibility of relocation.
