Senior Structural Engineer - Precast

About the Role

This position demands a seasoned structural engineer specialized in precast concrete elements. The candidate will oversee design, detailing, and coordination aspects to ensure compliance with structural codes and production needs from design through to site erection.

Primary Duties

• Lead engineering design for precast concrete structural components including columns, beams, walls, slabs, stairs, and façade elements.
• Prepare, validate, and approve structural calculations, design reports, and related documentation.
• Develop detailed reinforcement plans, connection designs, and lifting points ensuring temporary and permanent stability.
• Create and review precast shop and production drawings, ensuring sync with project specifications and structural codes.
• Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, BIM teams, QA/QC, production, and site operations for seamless execution.
• Address design changes, respond to RFIs and technical queries, and solve structural challenges during manufacturing and installation stages.
• Provide technical assistance throughout mould setup, reinforcement fabrication, casting, curing, transportation, and site erection phases.
• Validate precast element dimensions, tolerances, embedded components, openings, and connection arrangements.
• Perform structural analyses for precast elements and connections as needed, considering transport, lifting, and erection conditions alongside final design loads.
• Oversee and verify engineering outputs produced by junior engineers and draftsmen.
• Engage with production teams to ensure designs are feasible and conducive to efficient manufacturing.
• Contribute to value engineering efforts identifying cost-effective yet technically sound design alternatives.
• Participate in technical meetings offering clarifications to clients, consultants, and project team members.
• Maintain comprehensive records and ensure timely issuance of all structural documentation aligned with project timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is mandatory.
• Minimum of eight years’ extensive experience in structural engineering, especially precast concrete design and detailing.
• Experience within the UAE/GCC region is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in precast elements, connection detailing, reinforcement layouts, and shop drawings relevant to production and erection.
• Strong understanding of UAE and international structural design standards.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or similar platforms.
• Skilled in using AutoCAD with advantageous knowledge of Revit/BIM technologies.
• Competency in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• In-depth knowledge of reinforced concrete design principles and precast construction techniques.
• Prior collaboration with precast production and site erection teams is highly desirable.
