Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Located in Belfast, EverQuote is seeking a proactive Senior Software Engineer to join their leading insurance lead amplification platform team. This is a full-time, permanent contract position where you will help design and deliver their primary public-facing platform along with the advanced tools that support it.

This role offers the opportunity to engage in a fast-paced, Agile, and data-driven environment that emphasizes a "test and learn" culture and utilizes A/B testing to drive success. You will be part of a motivated, empowered team and act as a technical mentor, fostering innovation both in solution development and developer efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement impactful features for the main insurance marketplace and internal systems.
• Lead advancements in user experience and integrate cutting-edge AI methodologies like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to improve platform intelligence.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
• Advocate for the Agent First philosophy within the software development lifecycle to enhance agentic workflows.
• Analyze aggregated analytics data to establish feedback mechanisms that continuously refine systems and processes.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional groups including Product Management and Architecture teams.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related area.
• At least five years of professional software development experience, particularly within a product-based company.
• Proficiency in backend programming using Typescript.
• Experience supporting scalable cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, container orchestration (ideally Kubernetes), and observability tools.
• Skilled in continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.

Desirable Experience

• A security-focused mindset prioritizing secure software and cloud infrastructure delivery.
• Hands-on experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to UI development frameworks like React.
• Understanding of cloud-native services and serverless architectures.
• Experience designing and managing microservices and systems at scale.
