Senior / Principal Water Engineer

Overview

We invite motivated civil engineers to join a vibrant team focused on delivering large-scale stormwater and water infrastructure initiatives across both public and private sectors. Opportunities exist for hands-on Senior or Associate Engineers, as well as seasoned Principal or Technical Directors eager to lead and influence projects significantly. Positions are flexible within Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, or Tauranga.

Key Responsibilities

• Senior / Associate Engineer: Oversee all phases of stormwater project design, from initial concept through construction;
• Formulate and execute stormwater management strategies, hydraulic modeling, and water-sensitive urban design;
• Provide specialized technical guidance on catchment, flood, and network management projects;
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.

• Principal / Technical Director: Take charge of prominent stormwater and water infrastructure projects with strategic and technical leadership;
• Handle client relationships, spearhead business development, and ensure alignment with both technical and commercial objectives;
• Mentor senior and junior team members to cultivate a high-achieving, cooperative environment;
• Drive innovative stormwater solutions influencing outcomes in public and private sectors.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline;
• Senior/Associate roles require at least 5 years of experience in stormwater design and infrastructure project execution;
• Principal/Technical Director roles demand substantial expertise in water infrastructure delivery and demonstrable leadership skills;
• Chartered status (CPEng) is favorable but not mandatory;
• Proficient in InfoWorks ICM, MIKE DHI, HEC-RAS/TUFLOW, GIS, or equivalent software;
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership attributes.
