Senior Machining Quality Control Engineer

About the Role

Tuwaiq Casting & Forging Company seeks a seasoned Senior Quality Control Engineer specializing in machining. This pivotal position, reporting to the Quality Control Manager, entails comprehensive oversight of product quality throughout the machining lifecycle. The role ensures strict adherence to engineering specifications, customer requirements, and global industry standards via effective inspections, process control, traceability, calibration, and prompt resolution of quality deviations.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-progress machining, and final products.
• Verify full compliance with engineering blueprints, dimensional tolerances, specifications, and client standards.
• Conduct required first-piece, in-process, and final product evaluations before authorization.
• Supervise machining processes ensuring alignment with approved operational parameters.
• Manage segregation and status control of conforming and non-conforming items.
• Maintain calibration, verification, and traceability of measurement and inspection tools per national and international benchmarks.
• Manage calibration schedules and records for devices like CMMs, gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
• Promptly withdraw and report any instruments failing calibration standards.
• Ensure quality compliance with standards such as API Spec Q1, API 20A, API 20B, ISO 9001, and other international norms within machining operations.
• Maintain product identification, traceability, preservation, and storage according to regulatory and customer requirements.
• Validate accuracy and completeness of inspection documentation, travelers, and records.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI), qualification processes, and client inspections.
• Lead root cause analyses for quality defects and manage nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective action plans (CAPAs), and corrective measures promptly.
• Monitor corrective action effectiveness and drive continuous quality improvements based on reject trends.
• Accurately prepare and maintain inspection findings, compliance records, and release documents consistent with API and ISO standards.
• Provide expertise, training, and technical assistance to quality control personnel and production teams.
• Facilitate internal, external, and API standard audits and foster smooth cross-department collaboration to resolve quality-related matters.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar field.
• At least seven years of quality control experience within casting, forging, or heavy machining sectors.
• Proven skills in dimensional and visual inspections, including hands-on use of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
• Experienced in handling customer audits and interaction with third-party inspectors.
• Thorough understanding of machining processes, CNC operations, process documentation, and manufacturing blueprints.
• Proficient in GD&T, engineering drawings, tolerances, fits, and precise measurement techniques.
• Knowledgeable about API Spec Q1, API 20A/20B, ISO 9001:2015, and customer-specific quality requisites.
• Familiarity with ASME, ASTM standards, inspection requirements, and product traceability systems.
• Hands-on proficiency with precision measurement instruments such as CMM, gauges, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
• Ability to read machining process sheets, CNC programming, and inspection planning.
