Visual QC Inspector

About the Role

The QC Inspector will undertake thorough visual and final inspections of cast and forged components to verify compliance with both client requirements and international quality standards, including EN, ISO, ASME, and ASTM benchmarks. This position is centered in the quality control department and contributes directly to the confirmation of product integrity before release to customers or further production processes, working closely with production and quality personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct daily visual inspections of castings and forgings adhering strictly to client specifications, internal procedures, and applicable international standards.
• Perform precise dimensional checks in line with technical drawings, specifications, and company quality protocols on standard production parts.
• Support the QC Engineer in developing inspection test plans (ITP) and quality control standards.
• Evaluate marking and traceability adherence per quality mandates and customer requirements.
• Manage documentation and maintain records related to visual and final inspections.
• Execute specialized tests such as Positive Material Identification (PMI) and hardness measurements according to customer demands.
• Report any deviations, rejections, or non-conformities promptly to QC leadership.
• Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions resulting from internal and external non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Maintain inspection records compliant with API standards 20A and 20B.
• Finalize inspections ensuring all quality and client standards are met before product handover.
• Assist with other quality control activities including raw material inspections and Non-Destructive Examination when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) policies and maintain cleanliness in the inspection area.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A technical qualification such as ITI, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Preferred certifications: ASNT Level II in Visual Inspection and ISO 9712; ASNT Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT) is advantageous.
• At least five years of experience in visual inspection and quality control within the steel casting industry; forging experience adds value.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of material standards and inspection codes such as ASME, ASTM, ISO, and EN.
• Proficiency with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques including MT and PT.
• Experience conducting dimensional inspections of cast and forged parts.
• Familiarity with portable inspection instruments such as PMI analyzers and hardness testers.

Technical and Additional Skills

• Capability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection criteria, and test procedures accurately.
• Strong knowledge of MSS SP 55 standards and Scrata visual inspection techniques.
• Understanding of typical defect types found in castings and forgings.
• Competence in using Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation.
• Effective communication and reporting skills are essential.
• Physically prepared to conduct field inspections including work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
