About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Quality Control Engineer specializing in forging to join our Quality Department at Tuwaiq Casting & Forging Company in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia. This role is critical for ensuring all forging products conform to stringent internal quality benchmarks and customer specifications by overseeing and enforcing robust quality control procedures. The role supports defect reduction, enhances production efficiency, and ensures compliance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and drive the quality control procedures across the forging production floor in adherence to organizational guidelines.
- Manage non-conforming product control throughout the plant following the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) procedures, including internal NCR oversight.
- Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and product inspection frameworks to assure quality compliance both internally and externally.
- Conduct quality inspections on raw materials, in-process parts, and completed goods related to forging, complying with material standards and API 20B specifications.
- Document inspection outcomes and analyze quality metrics to detect trends or emerging issues.
- Oversee daily inspection activities on the forging shop floor to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Coordinate with third-party inspection bodies for inspections and relevant quality activities.
- Authorize final product approval based on quality criteria.
- Investigate defect root causes and establish corrective and preventive measures for continuous improvement.
- Contribute quality feedback to enhance production processes.
- Maintain and refine quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and API Q1 standards.
- Support customer and third-party audits in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
- Oversee the calibration and upkeep of inspection equipment to guarantee measurement precision.
- Operate measuring devices to maintain accuracy standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing context, with a preference for heavy open die forging environments.
- Familiarity or experience with API Q1 and API 20B standards is advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Skilled in using inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), and ultrasonic testers.
- Knowledgeable about visual and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) methods for quality inspection.
- Understanding of metallurgical properties and heat treatment procedures impacting forging products.
- Experience in casting inspection, including visual and NDE techniques, with exposure to ASTM and EN industry standards.
- Strong knowledge of API Q1 and 20B standards as they relate to forging processes.
Certifications
- Certified in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) with ASNT or ISO 9712 Level II qualification.
Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills combined with acute attention to detail.
- Effective communication capabilities and proficient in MS Office applications.
