QC Coating Inspector

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled QC Coating Inspector to oversee and validate the quality of surface preparation, protective coatings, painting, and corrosion protection activities at various project locations within Saudi Arabia. This position demands comprehensive expertise in coating inspection protocols, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), coating specifications, quality assurance and control documentation, as well as familiarity with pertinent standards and Saudi Aramco requirements.

Key Duties and Tasks

• Supervise and inspect activities including surface preparation, abrasive blasting, painting, coating application, and touch-up according to authorized specifications, ITPs, and project guidelines.
• Assess surface conditions to ensure cleanliness, correct profile, and readiness before the application of coating systems.
• Evaluate coating application parameters such as Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Wet Film Thickness (WFT), adhesion, curing process, recoat intervals, coverage, and detect visual defects.
• Continuously monitor environmental factors like temperature, humidity, dew point, and surface temperature prior to and during coating operations.
• Validate coating materials for compliance including batch numbers, shelf life, storage conditions, mixing ratios, and application methods.
• Analyze coating manufacturer documentation, material certificates, inspection outcomes, and laboratory test reports.
• Carry out or witness necessary coating tests such as holiday detection, DFT measurement, adhesion tests, and surface profile assessments as relevant.
• Ensure all activities are compliant with approved ITPs, method statements, coating procedures, project specifications, and Saudi Aramco standards.
• Detect any coating defects or non-compliance, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) or observations, and monitor corrective measures through completion.
• Keep detailed records including coating inspection reports, daily activity logs, test results, material documentation, and QA/QC files.
• Collaborate closely with coating contractors, construction teams, client officials, and independent inspectors.
• Provide support during final inspections, punch-list completion, mechanical completion stages, and assembly of turnover documentation.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Possession of a Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent technical certification.
• At least six years of experience as a QC Coating Inspector with direct relevance to the role.
• Minimum of six years' work experience within the Gulf region.
• Valid Coating Inspector Certification (CBT), if applicable.
• Authorized Saudi Aramco approval or demonstrated experience working on projects governed by Saudi Aramco standards.
• Strong grasp of surface preparation techniques, abrasive blasting, coating applications, inspection processes, ITPs, and QA/QC documentation requirements.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as NACE/AMPP, SSPC, ASTM, and ISO concerning coating inspection.
• Practical experience conducting tests related to DFT/WFT, surface profiling, dew point monitoring, holiday detection, and adhesion assessments.
• Preference will be given to candidates presently residing within Saudi Arabia.
