Senior Java Developer

About the Role

We seek a seasoned Senior Java Developer to oversee maintenance, support, and improvement of critical enterprise web applications. This role requires a balanced involvement in hands-on coding, production support, incident troubleshooting, controlled deployment releases, and knowledge sharing. The focus is on sustaining stability for legacy and current Java-based systems in a mission-critical business context.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and enhance enterprise Java web applications constructed using Struts, JSF, PrimeFaces, JSP, and Servlets.
• Investigate incidents and issues spanning application, database, integration, and deployment layers.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis and document findings along with corrective and preventive measures.
• Design and implement application improvements, evaluating dependencies and potential regression risks.
• Manage testing, deployment, release validation, and conduct post-release checks.
• Write, debug, and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code.
• Troubleshoot database-related inconsistencies, query optimizations, and performance concerns.
• Maintain reporting systems via JasperReports and Jasper Studio.
• Support and resolve issues related to REST APIs and integrations formatted in JSON and XML.
• Deploy and support Java applications on Oracle WebLogic and Apache Tomcat servers.
• Resolve application-server configuration, logs, startup, runtime, and deployment challenges.
• Provide support in high-priority operational periods.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Database, Infrastructure, Security, and Functional teams.
• Manage technical documentation including deployment guidelines, operational runbooks, and application knowledge assets.
• Assist in knowledge transfer and ensure validation of source code repositories, system access protocols, and application dependencies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• At least 8 years of hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise-level Java web applications.
• Proven experience managing legacy and production-critical Java applications.
• Strong proficiency with Java 8 / JDK 8, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and MVC architectural patterns.
• Expertise in JSP, Servlets, JavaScript, and AJAX.
• Experience with Struts 1.1, JSF 2.2, and PrimeFaces 5.5 frameworks.
• Advanced skills with Oracle Database 19c, including complex SQL, transaction handling, optimization, troubleshooting, and PL/SQL programming.
• Practical experience with JasperReports and Jasper Studio for report development and maintenance.
• Hands-on knowledge with Oracle WebLogic 14 and Tomcat for deployment, configuration, and resolving production issues.
• Competency in managing REST API integrations utilizing JSON and XML formats.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and CVSNT, handling repositories, branching, merging, and release version controls.
• Ability to thoroughly understand intricate business logic and safely apply compatible changes.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, documentation, and coordination capabilities across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Expertise

• Experience developing and debugging Java applications using Eclipse and NetBeans IDEs.
• Knowledge of Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Java Persistence API (JPA).
• Familiarity with Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) and JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL).
• Experience deploying or troubleshooting in application servers such as JBoss or GlassFish.
• Exposure to high-volume enterprise application development and performance tuning.
• Understanding of secure coding standards and automated testing procedures.
• Involvement in application modernization and transformation of legacy systems.
• Leadership experience mentoring developers or conducting knowledge transfer sessions.
