Java Developer

Position Overview

We are currently in search of an adept Java Developer to strengthen our team based in Toronto. The successful candidate will analyze business needs and convert them into technical blueprints and scalable software solutions. This role encompasses the entire software development lifecycle, including API architectural design, coding, testing, deployment activities, production support, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

This position involves close cooperation with project managers, application development leads, business stakeholders, quality assurance teams, and other relevant parties to ensure alignment between business aims, technical specifications, and final deliverables.

The role requires a hybrid work model, demanding presence at our downtown Toronto or client office at least three days weekly, subject to possible modifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine intricate business requirements, translating them into detailed technical specs, solution frameworks, and software modules.
• Architect and build APIs grounded in business needs, system design patterns, and best development practices.
• Create, test, deploy, and support Java-oriented applications and microservices, embedding complex business logic.
• Formulate rigorous test cases and detailed technical documentation aligned with both business and technical requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams through all development phases employing Agile methodologies.
• Aid in project code release processes and offer expert-level support for operational issues, troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance.
• Act as a technical advisor on simulation, modeling, analysis, and provide technical or business insights.
• Guarantee that quality, security, and compliance standards are integrated into deliverables.
• Engage in ongoing enhancement of development practices, process efficiency, productivity, and planning at operational and strategic levels.

Qualifications and Experience

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical disciplines.
• At least five years of hands-on experience developing in Java within enterprise environments.
• Proven expertise with microservices architectures and API creation.
• Strong competency in Java/J2EE and Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.
• Experience in developing web services utilizing SOAP, RESTful APIs, and JSON data formats.
• Working knowledge of OAuth, Maven, Git version control, SQL databases, and OpenShift platform.
• Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale projects from design to deployment.
• Familiar with Agile and iterative software development processes.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, Azure, or OpenShift.
• Effective problem solver with skills in troubleshooting and performance tuning of Java applications.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Java 21 version.
• Awareness of contemporary software development methodologies, practices, and culture.
• Capability to provide technical and business guidance using effective strategies.
• Adaptability to dynamic and changing project requirements.

Compensation Estimate

Estimated salary range for this position is CAD 80,000 to CAD 130,000 annually. Compensation considerations include expertise, geographical factors, experience levels, education, and certifications. Final decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
