Role Overview
Based in Cork, Ireland, the Senior Cloud Applications Developer will focus on architecting, deploying, and managing an enterprise observability and monitoring ecosystem across hybrid and cloud environments. This position requires deep technical expertise, best practice leadership, enhanced monitoring quality assurance, actionable alerting, and adherence to ITIL operations in collaboration with NOC, development, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deployment, configuration, and maintenance of monitoring and alerting platforms such as Operations Bridge Manager (OBM), Network Node Manager (NNMi), Zabbix, Prometheus, and Graylog.
- Developing enterprise-wide Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to ensure alerting aligns with business priorities.
- Acting as the principal escalation point for development, operational, and NOC teams.
- Leading complex incident handling, root cause investigations, and driving improvements following incidents.
- Championing automation efforts for monitoring provisioning, configurations, and remediation workflows.
- Participating as a member of the 24/7 Tier-3 support, managing incident calls and leading post-incident reviews in line with ITIL processes.
- Creating automation scripts for monitoring provisioning using Python, Bash, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR and Data Protection regulations for EMEA workloads.
- Implementing AI-enhanced features such as anomaly detection and AI-enabled troubleshooting.
- Utilizing AI copilots for automation, documentation, and script writing tasks.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation and operational runbooks of systems and processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant industry experience.
- Proficient with observability and monitoring technologies focusing on correlation, event pipelines, topology, and service modeling, particularly with Graylog and Prometheus.
- Strong expertise in Network Node Manager i (NNMi) including network topology, polling strategies, SNMP, traps, and root cause analysis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Zabbix architecture including templates, event routing, and automation capabilities.
- Solid background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), including SLIs/SLOs, reliability frameworks, and incident management procedures.
- Advanced proficiency with Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and scalable production system concepts.
- Experience automating infrastructure and monitoring provisioning using Python, Bash, Terraform, and Ansible integrated with GitLab pipelines.
- In-depth understanding of GDPR principles, data protection standards, and specific EMEA data residency requirements.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of AI concepts and machine learning fundamentals.
- Hands-on exposure to observability tools such as NewRelic and Dynatrace.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing enterprise OpenTelemetry pipelines and collector configurations.
- Familiarity with OpsBridge Aviator, SMAX, or AI-driven correlation platforms.
- Working knowledge of Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Grafana.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP monitoring ecosystems.
- Awareness of SIEM, security logging, and compliance frameworks.
- Understanding of Kafka/AMQP messaging pipelines.
- Basic programming skills in Go or Java related to exporters or integrations.
- Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD), cloud certifications, or Zabbix certifications are advantageous.
- Google Cloud Platform certifications are also considered a plus.
