Senior Actuarial Analyst - Managing General Agent

About the Role

AIG is transforming the approach to risk management, and we are seeking a skilled Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Managing General Agent (MGA) team in Sydney. In this dynamic, collaborative, and agile setting, you’ll play a key role in shaping actuarial functions and influencing business growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in proactive portfolio management to maintain sustained profitable growth.
• Develop and implement advanced portfolio monitoring tools, including metrics such as strike rates, rate changes, retention levels, and inflation trends.
• Perform regular profitability evaluations to guide business decisions.
• Create, refine, and support pricing and rating models; apply advanced analytics and predictive modeling where applicable.
• Conduct detailed profitability and budget loss ratio analyses by segment to underpin strategic and risk appetite decisions.
• Carry out due diligence for new MGA opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with underwriters, MGAs, and internal teams to provide insights, strategic advice, and recommendations.
• Support additional ad hoc data analyses as requested.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline.
• Previous experience in general insurance.
• Programming knowledge in at least one of Python, R, or SQL is preferred.
• Familiarity with databases and strong skills in data extraction and manipulation are advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities with adaptability to shifting priorities.
• Excellent collaboration skills, delivering timely, accurate results efficiently.
• Professional integrity and interpersonal effectiveness.
• Strong project and time management skills coupled with clear verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Ability to build positive stakeholder relationships and provide strategic guidance.
