Role Purpose

The Screener ensures the secure and effective examination of checked baggage, complying fully with regulatory mandates while detecting prohibited or hazardous items. Responsibilities include operating screening machines, thorough documentation, cooperative teamwork with security personnel, and passenger interaction to uphold strong security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Successfully attend and complete all mandatory regulatory training programs.
• Operate X-BIS equipment to analyze images for identifying dangerous goods, banned articles, weapons, and ammunition conforming to official guidelines and SOPs.
• Conduct physical checks and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) tests on baggage flagged by X-ray screening.
• Maintain high Threat Image Projection (TIP) scores demonstrating expertise in image assessment.
• Adhere strictly to BCAS and DGCA directives during baggage inspection and handling processes.
• Document all procedures and findings meticulously to fulfill audit and inspection criteria.
• Perform routine pre-operational checks on screening devices including X-BIS, ETD, CT-EDS to ensure functional readiness.
• Report any equipment issues promptly and assist in upkeep of operational logs.
• Collaborate with CISF and airline personnel during physical baggage inspections and managing suspicious items.
• Keep supervisors informed promptly about ongoing operations and potential issues.
• Manage time effectively to complete screening without causing operation delays, balancing thoroughness and speed safely.
• Maintain professionalism, discipline, and a positive workplace demeanor, abiding by company policies.

Key Internal and External Stakeholders

• Internal: CSO, Lead Avsec Audit & Compliance, Pass Section, ILHBS management, Terminal Operations, IT, HR, Compliance and Regulatory Teams, Various Airport Departments
• External: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Aircraft Operators, Airport Authorities, Passengers, ASG, BCAS, Local Police, Service Providers, Law Enforcement Agencies, Regulatory Bodies, Industry Associations

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education: High school diploma or bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Mandatory TSA certification; BCAS basic AVSEC course clearance, BCAS Standalone/Inline Screeners certification, and DGCA approved DGR CAT 12 certification are advantageous.
• Preference given to NCC “C” or “B” certificate holders.
• Open to freshers or candidates with 1-2 years experience in security screening or related airport security roles.
• Familiarity with screening equipment operation and security protocols necessary.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

• Visual acuity: Corrected eyesight of 20/60 in both eyes or better; alternative standard of 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other acceptable.
• Color perception adequate to perform duties.
• Hearing loss below 30 dB per ear for frequencies under 2000 Hz.
• Clear oral communication abilities without speech impediments.
• Ability to detect odors as part of security measures.
• Physical agility to perform crisis communication effectively.
