Role Summary
The Lead - Project Safety ensures stringent safety protocols and risk control measures during civil construction projects. This position mandates overseeing adherence to safety standards, conducting safety audits, and fostering safety awareness with all related stakeholders to promote a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft and execute customized safety plans tailored to individual projects, ensuring conformity to national, international, and airport-specific safety regulations.
- Undertake detailed risk assessments for ongoing construction activities to identify hazards and collaborate with construction teams to apply suitable mitigation measures.
- Conduct frequent safety audits at construction sites, document safety violations, and coordinate with teams to implement corrective measures promptly.
- Lead investigations on accidents, incidents, and near misses with comprehensive reporting and enforce corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Organize periodic safety training sessions for workers, contractors, and stakeholders to cultivate an ingrained safety culture and keep teams updated on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Develop safety performance metrics, monitor key indicators, and submit regular reports to senior management with recommendations for continuous safety enhancements.
Stakeholder Interaction
Internal collaboration includes working closely with the Head of Project Safety, Project Management Team, Health & Safety Department, Compliance Team, and Engineering Team. Externally, interaction involves regulatory bodies such as DGCA and AERA, contractors, local communities, and government safety inspectors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent discipline.
- Preferred certifications include Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), NEBOSH, or expertise in Project Safety Management.
- Over 12 years of experience in safety management within construction, ideally on large-scale infrastructure or aviation projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in conducting site safety audits, performing risk analyses, and driving safety improvement initiatives.
