Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Safety Manager who will take a leadership role in the planning, management, and coordination of specialized health and safety initiatives. This critical position will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety excellence by advancing safety protocols, executing risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and safeguarding our workforce during operations. The successful candidate will also spearhead the development of comprehensive safety management systems and drive continuous safety performance improvements through cross-functional teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain thorough health and safety policies and programs that are customized to organizational requirements and regulatory standards.
- Develop and refine advanced technical approaches to risk evaluation, hazard mitigation, and safety procedures, staying updated on industry trends and regulatory developments.
- Lead and manage a team of safety professionals, ensuring excellent safety practices across all operations.
- Perform frequent site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to detect hazards and confirm adherence to both local and international safety norms.
- Oversee incident inquiries, identify root causes, and institute corrective measures to prevent repeat occurrences.
- Track, analyze, and report on safety performance indicators, communicating results to senior leadership.
- Offer expert advice and support to operational teams to promote safe practices and minimize hazards.
- Supervise contractor safety, enforcing compliance with safety standards and requirements.
- Develop and facilitate safety training programs and awareness campaigns to cultivate a strong safety-first mindset across all organizational tiers.
- Act as a proactive safety ambassador and advocate within the company.
- Ensure full compliance with safety laws, regulations, and licensing conditions relevant to Qatar, managing accurate documentation and record-keeping.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 14 years of relevant professional exposure in safety, health and safety, or HSE leadership roles.
- At least 7 years of hands-on safety management experience in major projects, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
- Preferably possess regional experience in the Middle East, especially Qatar or areas with similar safety regulatory frameworks.
- Hold professional safety certifications such as CSP, OHST, NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or equivalent globally respected qualifications.
- Comprehensive understanding and practical experience with safety legislation and regulations, including those specifically applicable in Qatar.
- Proven competence in performing safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and devising corrective actions.
- Skilled at creating and operationalizing safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and delivering training programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities with influence across various organizational levels.
- Analytical thinker with sharp problem-solving skills and familiarity with safety management software and digital tools.
