Role Overview

The Project Planning Manager will oversee all aspects of planning, scheduling, and monitoring progress for construction projects, ensuring they meet time, budgetary, contractual, and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage comprehensive project schedules utilizing Primavera P6.
  • Set baseline schedules that reflect project scope and critical milestones.
  • Develop work breakdown structures (WBS) and define planning methods.
  • Track project advancement against approved timelines.
  • Recognize potential delays, risks, and effects on the critical path.
  • Formulate strategies to mitigate delays and recover schedules.
  • Lead schedule revisions, performance measurement, and forecasting activities.
  • Supervise teams of planning engineers and project control specialists.
  • Implement consistent planning standards across projects.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors for planning alignment.
  • Generate weekly and monthly progress reports along with dashboards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and deliver insights to management.
  • Perform delay analyses to support Extension of Time (EOT) claims and manage changes.
  • Coordinate efforts among clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure cohesive scheduling.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of experience in construction planning and scheduling roles.
  • At least 5 years serving in senior or lead planning positions on major projects.
  • Proficient with Primavera P6 software; PMP certification preferred or required.
  • PMI-SP certification also preferred or required.
  • In-depth expertise in planning techniques, scheduling, construction methods, and sequencing procedures.
  • Skilled in delay analysis, EOT claim preparation, and project controls management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong client relationship management and multitasking skills.
