Role Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to bolster our ongoing reliability engineering initiatives spanning multiple data centers. Reporting directly to the Reliability Manager, your key focus will be on monitoring system performance, initiating preventive and predictive maintenance activities, conducting root cause and failure analyses, and collaborating with various teams to ensure minimal downtime and strengthened infrastructure robustness.

Primary Responsibilities

• Continuously oversee real-time and archived performance data for critical systems including power, cooling, and IT equipment.
• Interpret system metrics to uncover patterns, failure mechanisms, and potential reliability threats.
• Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode & Effects Analyses (FMEA), steering corrective and preventive measures.
• Formulate and uphold condition-based and predictive maintenance frameworks utilizing IoT devices, data analytics, and machine learning techniques.
• Assist in scheduling, documenting, and verifying preventive maintenance activities to support maintenance programs.
• Participate in asset lifecycle management, encompassing system upgrades, phasing out equipment, and end-of-life strategies.
• Contribute to capacity evaluation processes to anticipate future infrastructure requirements.
• Implement and monitor availability management protocols, including assessing risks and mitigation planning.
• Standardize and ensure accuracy in data collection and KPI reporting for reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and system availability.
• Create detailed reliability reports and dashboards to communicate insights and suggestions to site leadership.
• Lead failure-response operations during incidents to facilitate swift recovery and thorough root cause examination.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations including those of Uptime Institute, ISO, and ASHRAE.
• Work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, and Vendors to integrate best reliability practices into daily activities.
• Initiate and test continuous improvement projects and emerging reliability technologies.
• Undertake additional duties as required within the scope of the role.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability, or related Engineering field.

Experience & Expertise

• At least three years of relevant experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or data center operations.
• Practical knowledge in RCA, FMEA, and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency with monitoring systems, data analytics platforms, and scripting languages such as Python or R.
• Experience with IoT sensors, machine learning frameworks, and systems for condition-based monitoring.
• Understanding of relevant reliability standards and compliance requirements (ISO, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute).
